The Do-It-Yourself 4″ Polished Intake Kits are a cut to fit application. If your powerstroke has the stock turbo or ported compressor housing you will just need to cut 2.5″ inches off the turbo/silicone side of the pipe. You will also have to cut 3.5″ inches off the air filter side for proper clearance in the engine compartment. Aftermarket turbos may be different depending on turbo and turbo pedestal.
The AFe air filter will still be wrapped in original plastic and box. These kits are similiar to what K&N, AirRaid, or MAC sells but cheaper. This kit comes with everything you need the install and is very easy to do. Comes with all stainless steel clamps, 4″ silicone coupler 350*F, Chrome Intake tubing and AFe Air Filter. Hear the Turbo Spool Faster and scream like a demon. K&N typhoon or MAC intake sells for $190-200 plus tax and shipping. This is a great buy for someone looking for some extra power out of their ford diesel engine with a great look!!!
The 1994-1998 Intake Kit is the same as the 99-03. If you look on the 94-98 you will see a sensor located on the side of the OEM Air Box facing the firewall. This is not required to be installed because its function is useless and everything will perform the same without it and no codes will be thrown on the computer. The MAP sensor on the truck is what controls the air/fuel ratio and the sensor in the airbox doesn’t measure this. It is very easy to tap into the intake or air filter. Some people just leave it out and some tap it in. Thats why I don’t pre-drill holes in the intake pipe because most people don’t plug this sensor back in. If you want the sensor back in drill or punishure about 3/8″ or 1/2″ hole in the top side of the K&N air filter or you can drill a hole in the intake pipe. Then just plug this sensor back in.
